We brought to your attention just the other day of a lawsuit against Microsoft. The lawsuit was filed by the company PalTalk back in 2006, saying Microsoft was infringing on a patent for “ways to control interactive applications over multiple computers.” Halo’s multiplayer was part of this patent infringement claim.
Microsoft decided to settle today for somewhere between $200,000 and $90,000,000. That is quite the chunk of change that I wouldn’t mind having! The trial, which started Monday, was expected to last at least two weeks. Microsoft decided to cut that short with today’s settlement. Microsoft’s representatives wouldn’t divulge any information on exactly how much they settled for, but they mentioned it was “amicable.”
I sure wish I had $90 million dollars, how about you?
