Nintendo’s new “DS” handheld system has been the main topic of conversation from Nintendo going into E3, as they say it will be the centerpiece of their product lineup at the show in May.
P.J. McNealy of American Technology Research has reported that a 2-hour movie (on a 128 MB Flash Card) was succesfuly demonstrated on the DS, however, he noted that Nintendo may not implement this feature when the product is released.
McNealy also reported that the system will be launched alongside a dozen games in the Holiday Season of 2004 with prices ranging from $20 to $30. Nintendo true to form however referred to their longstanding (and very annoying) policy of not commenting on rumors or speculation.
McNealy added that he believes developers are now starting to become more and more excited about the DS and the possibilities it may hold after overcoming initial skepticism.
With E3 only about 2 months from now, more details on the DS as well as Nintendo’s other E3 plans should be starting to leak out. Things will no doubt be getting very interesting for Nintendo fans soon.
