More Wii Ports Being “Considered” by Capcom

Hmm, I expect there are going to be two very different responses to this bit of news. Make of it what you will.

When asked about the prospect of porting Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 titles to the Wii, Capcom’s Chief Financial Officer, Kazuhiko Abe, told Reuters Japan “we have not decided whether we are doing it or not doing it.”

He adds that “Up until now, after releasing our PS3 and Xbox 360 games, we have brought them to the Wii. Basically, this is the approach we are considering taking.”

Wait, what? Really? Only one comes to mind: Dead Rising. And that didn’t exactly set Wii owners’ hearts aflutter. Kotaku adds, “Dead Rising Wii was just the start, and we could well be seeing Wii versions of other recent Capcom titles, like Resident Evil 5. Promising! So long as he means Resident Evil 5. And not a guided African survival horror experience based loosely around the characters and events of Resident Evil 5.”

Hmm. If you think Street Fighter IV would be a safer bet with which to win some goodwill, raise your hands and/or post in the comments.
