My Favorite Scary Games and Movies

by Mike David

It’s that time of year again friends, and
this year, we are lucky enough to have Halloween on a Saturday, so no need
to get up early on Sunday and every reason to stay up late.

So with that being said, after all the Trick or
Treating or costume partying has been completed, you may find yourself still
wanting a good scare or two. Sooooooo, here is a list of games and movies
you may want to check out during the late hours on Halloween night.

Movies

Let Sleeping
Corpses Lie
– This is one of those underrated gems of a movie. A zombie
flick that has absolutely nothing to do with being funny and everything to
do with making you freak out.

The Midnight
Meat Train
 – Hey don’t knock the slightly corny title, this is a Clive
Barker story so you can bet that there are plenty of gruesome happenings
going on. I watched this movie this past year and still get into a debate
over the ending with my nephew.

Night of the
Creeps
  – Here is a horror flick that you had no idea existed, but
if you rent it, chances are you are going to have yourself one heck of a
good time. Serial killers, alien slugs, zombies, a lawnmower and a cop who
probably should have gotten a mental health pass 20 years ago are all on
tap.

Halloween
– The original people, not the remake, this is the movie that will make you
check all your windows and doors before you go to bed, the boogeyman is
real, and he’s watching you.

Video Games

Eternal Darkness
– This unknown horror game on the GameCube no less, is one of the best
horror games I have ever played. As much fun to watch as it is to play, your
character sanity will actually weaken as you progress, causing things, weird
things to start happening to you, even in the real world.

Resident Evil 5
– Yes, I know, many gamers may say, "Of course he would add a Resident Evil
game…" To that I say, "Well Duh" They are the reason we have a lively
selection of survival horror games available to this day. And Capcom’s
latest offering is an over the top, blood splattering fun fest. Good times
here people, good times.

Dead Space  –
Whether you play the original, or
Extraction on the
Wii, you had better hold on to your hat. Dead Space is as lively a title as
I have played in years. Lots of dark creepy places where lots of dark creepy
things are waiting to get you.

Left 4 Dead
It may not have the scares you are used to, or hoping for, but turn the
lights down and the sound up, and you will get a jolt or two, especially if
you download the new missions and try them for the first time this
Saturday…

Board Game

Atmosphere
 – This is a board game that you play and are encouraged to
dress up for. Interactive action as you run from your competition and
collect the keys to face your fear. A really fun game.
