Namco Bandai Officially Announces Soulcalibur IV

Namco Bandai today announced the next installment in the critically acclaimed Soulcalibur series, featuring some of the most diverse characters, moves and weapon sets seen in any other fighting game available.

“Soulcalibur has been a cornerstone franchise for Namco Bandai Games and this latest edition will build upon its legacy of groundbreaking fighting experiences,” said Makoto Iwai, Executive Vice President and COO, Namco Bandai Games America Inc. “With Soulcalibur IV, long-time fans and newcomers to the franchise will be amazed by its visual beauty and intense, pulse pounding weapon combat.”

Project Soul, the legendary team behind previous games in the series including Soul Blade for the original PlayStation returns to craft an all new experience featuring all new warriors and a few returning characters to boot. Soulcalibur IV will make full use of the power found in next-generation systems by offering realistic environments, interactive stages, enhanced AI, and a new battle system.

Soulcalibur IV is scheduled for release in 2008 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Expect much more on this title in the coming months.
