As you may recall, last year Marvel signed game licensing deals with various publishers, but ultimately granted Microsoft exclusive rights to make MMO games featuring Marvel characters, and extended Activision’s worldwide publishing rights all the way to 2017. Later this year, we’ll see X-Men: The Official Game released and no doubt there will be releases to coincide with the Spiderman 3 movie next year.
But there are more Marvel games in the works. The latest issue of GameInformer has unveiled Activision’s plans to develop a title called “Marvel: Ultimate Alliance”, an action game for current and next-generation consoles set in the Ultimate Marvel universe with C.B. Cebulski, now a freelance writer, penning the story for the game. GameInformer also states that the game will feature more than twenty playable characters including Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain America, Thor, Elektra, Ghost Rider and Silver Surfer.
