Nintendo Promises Zelda Surprises at E3 2010

The main director of the past few Zelda games has told Official Nintendo Magazine to expect surprises from a changed Zelda on Wii at E3 2010.

In possibly his first comments ever on a new Zelda for the Wii, Eiji Aonuma held an interview for the 51st issue of Official Nintendo Magazine in which he hinted at the general direction for his and Shigeru Miyamoto’s plans for the game.

In the interview he expresses awareness of the concern over the franchise’s need to overhaul. “It is something we used to talk about with Mr Miyamoto,” said Aonuma. “he and I agree that if we are following the same structure again and again, we might not be able to give long time Zelda fans a fresh surprise.”

“So we have been trying something new in terms of the structure of the Wii version of the new Zelda game this time,” Aonuma said. “I am really hopeful that people will be surprised with the changes we have implemented for this Wii version.”

Like Miyamoto had earlier, Aonuma confirms Wii Motion Plus support for the new Zelda, confirming that they want to show the game at E3 2010. “I hope that we can show you something at the E3 show next year and it is something we are hopeful will be surprising.”

That same issue, soon to release to newsstands, also contains an exclusive Miyamoto interview.
