Nintendo has previously instituted a large scale demo download service throughout the country of Japan. The service allows those individuals in the vicinity of a kiosk to easily download and play a wide variety of Nintendo DS titles Beginning with the popular pet simulator, Nintendogs, the service has allowed Japanese gamers to enjoy the portable’s offerings in advance of their release date.
However, as effective as the service has been in the region, these special kiosk machines did little to satisfy the cravings of those who do not currently own a DS. The companies official Japanese website has been recently updated, and with it news of an expanded DS demo service for Japan.
The already expansive service has been widened to allow for any willing individual to experience the unique properties of the device first hand. The enhanced demo stations are set to appear in numerous Japanese store fronts, and will include over 30 playable titles.
The list includes popular titles such as Mario Kart DS, Animal Crossing: Wild World, Nintendogs, and the Brain Training series. Nintendo has also declared their plans on providing gamers with a demo of the recently released (in America) Mario and Luig: Partners in Time starting on December 15th.
The improved demo service comes just in time for the holiday season and alongside anticipated DS game releases. Both Animal Crossing and Mario Kart DS have launched in the country over the past few weeks.
Sales of the portable have remained steady, as the handheld has consistently been the highest selling game system.
