Nintendo Wi-Fi: Free, Easy, Accessible

Nintendo of America has issued a press release in response to the recent Wi-Fi announcements made in Tokyo.

The company has officially stated that the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection will begin on November 14th, when Mario Kart DS, and Tony Hawk’s American SK8Land are released to the public.

The Internet experience will be first experienced by North American users, as NOE, and NCL plan on releasing Mario Kart a few weeks after NOA.

In the release, the company has confirmed that a WiFi USB connector will be made available for customers without a wireless router. Details on the product can be seen here.

In addition, Nintendo has announced that thousands of free hotspots will be available throughout the country shortly.

Details are currently sparse on these Wi-Fi locations, however the company promises to reveal more information on this, as well as details on connecting to the service from outside the home shortly.

“Nintendo has taken the online video gaming model and rewritten the definition of community,” said Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of sales & marketing. “With easy setup and no added service fees, players far and wide will log in and play with one another as easily as if they were sitting in the same room.”

Finally, NOA has confirmed the release date for Animal Crossing: Wild World. The anticipated DS title is now confirmed to release on December 5th.

With several online titles set to release in the coming months, it should truly be interesting to experience the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
