It looks like Kirby’s going to have a hard time getting console love once again this generation as Nintendo says they have no plans for a Kirby title in the works for the Nintendo Wii.
In Nintendo’s official UK magazine, a question was asked by a reader if a Kirby game was in development for the Wii. The official response was: “There are no plans right now for a Kirby game on Wii but there are plenty of Kirby fans out there, so in the meantime look out for Kirby in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Brawl which will be released in 2008.”
While we will be able to look forward to controlling the cute pink puffball in next year’s Brawl, there was at one point a Kirby game in development for the Gamecube which was shown of at e3 2005. After several years without another appearance, Nintendo fans stated to hope the game was being reworked and ported to the Wii, but now things seem to be leaning towards a cancellation instead. One can only hope that our Dreamland hero will be given a second chance for a console title sooner than later.
