No PS3 Version of Mass Effect

Hot on the heels of yesterday’s acquisition by EA, Gamedaily had the chance to pose a few questions to BioWare’s Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk (try to say those names 3 times fast).

Among the questions posed was if BioWare has any plans for a PS3 version of Mass Effect. Muzyka had this to say: “We have no plans currently to pursue [a PS3 version]. Our focus is pure and simple; it’s to deliver the best game possible for our fans with Mass Effect, and that’s an Xbox 360 exclusive. Microsoft’s a great partner… and they’ve really helped build the value of the product and we’re proud to work with them.”

While this is disappointing to PS3 gamers, it had pretty much already been assumed that this was the case, being as BioWare had previously kept their Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic titles off the PS2.

Furthermore, Zeschuk reassured Gamedaily that Mass effect will be a trilogy, and that BioWare wants the entire trilogy to be on the 360.

The acquisition by EA raises a new question, however. EA, known for its affinity of multiplatform games, may have a future influence on the console exclusivity that BioWare prefers.

Only time will tell how this all plays out, and AMN will be there to keep you informed.
