Hardcore video game analyst Michael Pachter has made another prediction, this time in an interview on the latest episode of Bonus Round with host Geoff Keighley. Pachter states, “I think if EA takes over Take-Two, they have an economic incentive to delay [Grand Theft Auto IV].”
What exactly is Pachter trying to say? Basically that if Electronic Art manages to acquire TakeTwo, EA would be in a much better position to release GTA4 in the fourth quarter where they stand to make more of a profit out of the title. You might be asking yourself why TakeTwo just doesn’t do this themselves, especially if they stand to make more money by doing so. The reason Pachter explains is, “Take-Two, financially, has to get that game out … they need the money. They need to get it out.”
So basically if you’re eagerly awaiting the upcoming April 29th release of GTA4, you might want to start praying that EA doesn’t manage to acquire TakeTwo, otherwise we may be seeing a significant delay in a game that is only three weeks away from release.
