Pre-E3: Nintendo Wi-Fi Details

The new online system, a dual connection, allows for two ways of finding fellow gamers. First, you can use a buddy list-like system to play friends and family. Secondly, you can find unknown other players of similar skill levels.

The system is expected to be utilized by 90% of NDS units.

Reginald Fils-Aime also confirmed once again that DS online play will be free- no monthly charges from Nintendo. However, the door is still open to third parties to charge small fees.

Twenty-five companies are currently working on DS online titles, including Activision, EA, Square-Enix, Sega, THQ, and others. Game announcements are to follow.
