“Most Unique and Expensive” Wii in the World

When does a Wii cost more than a PlayStation 3? Ironically, when both are dipped in gold, it would seem.

Thinking back, one might recall earlier this year when THQ presented the Queen of England and the Royal Family with a gold plated Wii (despite her already receiving a regular one from Nintendo a year and a half prior). Now, it seems that a consumer model has hit the market, though not by Nintendo’s hand, of course.

Stuart Hughes is now offering a gold-plated Wii, dubbed the “Wii SUPREME.”

“Six months of precise workmanship went into creating the ultimate gaming station which boasts over 2,500 grams of solid 22ct gold. The front buttons are home to 78 x 0.25 ct Flawless diamonds which total 19.5 ct.”

Some might liken this to the recently-revealed gold PlayStation 3, but there are certainly differences beyond the branding. For example, while the PS3s are made-to-order, there will be only three of the Wii SUPREME made.

And while the gold-dipped Sony will run a prodigal spender somewhere in the area of $5,000 U.S. dollars, the Wii SUPREME is a much more expensive undertaking at £299,995.00, or $430,171.66 USD.

In all honesty, it strikes me as almost cartoonish in its exorbitance, such as when a character strikes it rich and wants a solid gold house or something.

Supposing you could have one without worry, would you want one of these? And I mean to actually own, not to pawn or sell off.
