Red Steel 2 Developers Emphasizing Destructible Environments

Sometimes, it’s just fun to break stuff. And the developers of Ubisoft’s Red Steel 2 for the Wii know this, revealing to Nintendo Power magazine that in their game, yes, you will have the opportunity to destroy many, many things with your gun. Or your sword, if you should so choose.

“The basic idea is that bashing things with a sword is fun,” says Lead Game Designer Roman Campos Oriola. “So we plan to have as much destructibility in the environments as we can.”

To drive the point home, the magazine was shown a demo in which Oriola beat the daylights out of a car with his sword. But in spite of this, there are still some things about it which they are not yet ready to divulge…

“We’re also building a gameplay mechanic around destructible objects,” he says, “but I can’t say more than that at the moment.”
