A recently released Capcom financial report confirms what every Resident Evil fan knew, deep down, to be true: the highly anticipated sixth installment in the main Resident Evil series (don’t forget Code: Veronica!) will not hit retailers before the year is out, and not until April 2008 at the earliest.
The report outlines Capcom’s release calendar for the remainder of its fiscal year, the period ending April of next year, a calendar on which Resident Evil 5 is a no-show. This latest evidence essentially cements the suspicions that RE fans began developing when the title failed to appear on the list of games that Capcom will be presenting at this year’s E3 Expo.
While it’s technically possible that RE5 could drop on April 1, 2008, don’t bet on it. A complete lack of presence at E3, be it in demo or video form, is telling, and RE fans looking to get their next-gen survival horror on could indeed be in for a long wait.
