Review in Progress: Our initial impressions of Evolve

We don't want to rush anything

As I'm sure you're well aware, Evolve is out tomorrow. And while you might have already seen some review scores, we've opted to hold off on publishing our full review.

The reason is simple really, we've only recently received our review copy and aren't comfortable posting a full review just yet. Being in South Florida sometimes means getting games a little later than other outlets. Rather than rushing a review just for the sake of getting it out by embargo, we'd rather take our time and digest every aspect of the game. It's unfortunate because of the 'pre-order now!' nature of the gaming industry, but what are ya gonna do, right? It's the times we live in.

In Evolve's case, though, it's not necessarily a bad thing that we received our copy a little late either. Being a game that heavily emphasizes online gameplay (in its 4v1 setup), it's probably better to wait until the game releases to the masses. Evolve's servers are live right now, but it's mostly other reviewers playing. As we've seen in the past, this sort of limited look isn't necessarily reflective of how the servers will perform once the game is in the hands of thousands of other players. Who knows what could happen on launch day?

So while we can't get you a full review just yet, we do have some our initial impressions based on what we've played so far. Hopefully it helps, but remember that this is only based on a small portion of the game we've been able to play so far.
