Rumor: Super Smash Bros. Brawl Bludgeons Us with Another Delay

Trust us, this is one rumor that we really don’t want to be true. Typing these words invokes an emotional pain not unlike taking one of Samus’ Screw Attacks straight in the gonads. Yes, unfortunately Super Smash Bros. Brawl may be getting yet another delay – this time until March.

The rumor popped up today when retailers such as GameCrazy and rental service GameFly began listing Brawl’s release date as March 2008. GameFly updated its database with a March 12 release date, while GameCrazy now claims a street date of March 31 for the highly anticipated Nintendo title.

Nintendo World Report has also learned from one of their sources that Wal-Mart’s release database has also been updated with a March Brawl release, despite the fact that their website still shows February 10. Nintendo has yet to make any official comment on a new release date for Brawl.

While retailers such as GameStop and Amazon.com are still showing an on schedule release for February 10, it is hard to believe that GameFly and GameCrazy would change their release dates for the title if they hadn’t heard of some sort of delay. AMN will keep you posted, and we will keep our fingers crossed that this is just another stupid rumor.
