LONDON, 28th October 2002 – Today Xbox announced an outstanding value offer – from 30th October, Xbox is introducing the Sega Christmas Pack from Xbox, a limited edition Xbox Christmas offer that includes €120/£80 worth of triple-A games from Sega for free.
The Sega Christmas Pack from Xbox will be available in Europe from 1st November while stocks last. A similar offer has already been introduced in North America.
The Sega Christmas Pack from Xbox includes the full versions of Sega GT 2002 and Jet Set Radio Future, both highly-regarded triple-A titles, packed in with Xbox and an official Xbox controller. The value-packed offer will retail for an estimated street price of €249.99/£159.99 – the same as Xbox alone.
“Here’s another reason why it’s going to be an Xbox-green Christmas in Europe,” said Sandy Duncan, Vice President, Xbox Europe. “We’re committed to providing best value for our consumers as often as we can, and the Sega Christmas Pack from Xbox is an exceptional example. Xbox has always been amazing value for money and now with this offer it is even more so.
“For one thing it’s what you get out of the box,” said Duncan. “Xbox comes with a hard drive built in, a broadband adapter built in, and the most advanced graphics and sound capabilities ever seen in a console. Secondly we and our publishing partners are offering gamers a growing library of acclaimed Xbox-only titles like the upcoming Splinter Cell, as well as the definitive versions of multi-platform titles like Spiderman and Tony Hawk. And now, gamers get a head start on developing a killer Xbox games library – the revolutionary JSRF and the exciting Sega GT 2002 are included. If you consider all of those factors, it’s clear Xbox is the best value available in gaming.”
“It’s very gratifying that Xbox has chosen Sega titles to include as part of this offer,” said Naoya Tsurumi, President/COO, Sega Europe. “Sega GT 2002 and Jet Set Radio Future both take advantage of the unique properties of Xbox to deliver fantastic gaming experiences, and we’re pleased that even more gamers will get to experience these great titles.”
“We’re excited to be working with Xbox on the Sega Christmas Pack from Xbox,” said Bruno Bonnell, Founder and CEO, Infogrames. “Infogrames has been an early supporter of Xbox, and the Xbox games by Sega that we’ve published in Europe have done extremely well. We’ve got a great line-up for Xbox this Christmas, and this offer will help put Xbox under more Christmas trees, widening our audience.”
Besides being a great Christmas gift to gamers in Europe, the Sega Christmas Pack from Xbox is a boon to retail. “We can’t wait to get this special pack into our stores,” said Richard Barry, Divisional Merchandise Director at Toys R Us. “The games industry is expected to dominate this Christmas and special offers like this only help us fulfil more gamers’ wish lists. We applaud the effort to provide us with unique offers that we can use to delight our customers.”
Duncan pointed out that only with Xbox this holiday can consumers get a choice of over 175 game titles (with over 300 currently in development) representing the most advanced movie quality graphics, sound effects and music ever experienced on a video game console, plus a built-in hard disc for the most intense gaming experiences and a built-in broadband adapter for instant online gaming with Xbox Live, a new online gaming service launching soon in Europe. “Best value is not just about price,” said Duncan. “It’s price, plus the most advanced hardware features, plus a killer games portfolio all in one package.”
Two Fantastic Xbox-Only Games – For Free!
Sega GT 2002 and Jet Set Radio Future, the games offered free as part of the Sega Christmas Pack from Xbox, have gained rave reviews since their launch. One of the most anticipated games on any console, Sega GT 2002 offers the definitive car racing simulation. Featuring more than 100 current and classic high performance vehicles, amazing control, and deep gameplay, Sega GT 2002 gives gamers the most realistic racing experience on the virtual road. Each car was created using the exact handling and performance specs from their real-life counterparts, and gamers can get under the (virtual) hood to tweak each car’s engine and body to perfection. When gamers are ready to race, they can choose from multiple modes, tracks, and environment to show what their mean machine can do.
The thumping beats and mean streets are back in JSRF – Jet Set Radio Future on the Xbox video game system. Featuring unique anime-style graphics, new tricks, and hot tunes, Jet Set Radio Future brings the hippest game ever into a brave new world. Gamers choose a character, strap on their rocket-powered skates, and immerse themselves in living, breathing cities filled with opportunity. Along the way, they’ll compete with rival gangs, be chased by cops, and perhaps discover something unthinkable. Gamers can join up with a friend and work together to reach new places, create new attacks, and perform astounding stunts. It’s all about extreme skating, extreme action, and of course, extreme style.
