Konami has told ComputerAndVideogames that Silent Hill Shattered Memories will launch in February of 2010. This is the only direct comment anyone has received from Konami on the game’s release date amid much confusion from retailers.
Throughout most of this year it was assumed that Shattered Memories – the retelling of the original Playstation Silent Hill, would release in the middle of October. Ever since the beginning of this month however, that date has shifted around for all three versions.
Nintendo’s release date list for the Wii and DS games of this fall listed Shattered Memories for a launch in the first week of November. Later, retailers all started to list their own dates.
Gamestop has all versions pegged at December 8th. GameFly has the Wii version listed at November 28th and the PS2 and PSP versions at December 31st – likely a placeholder date. Wal-Mart has the Wii version in the same week in which GameFly has it at November 24th, but has the other versions at December 25th.
It was after this that Konami told ComputerAndVideogames that Shattered Memories is actually coming out in February of 2010. “It’s out in Feb, but has never been officially confirmed as anything else,” Konami representative said, pointing out how they never actually gave retailers any of the dates they listed. “A few retail sites put a loose November date on it, but we never officially gave it a date until recently.”
