Soul Calibur Goes Online

The Director of Soul Calibur confirms online play in the latest issue of EGM even though in the past, fighting games have stayed away from online play.

“What’s changed this time round is that the next-gen platforms have network infrastructure already in place,” says Soulcalibur IV Director Katsutoshi Sasaki. “We’ve heard from fans that they really want the game to be online, so we figured that, with the current environment, we really couldn’t make SC4 without online play.”

Last week, it was announced that Tekken 5 would be going online for the first time this year which may show that fighting games are beginning to embrace online play.
