Square Enix had Planned DLC for Final Fantasy 13, but Axed It

Microsoft is holding a press conference in Japan where they have announced the Japanese release of Final Fantasy XIII and the Japanese release and pricing details for Kinect.

Regarding this release Famitsu spoke with FFXIII director Motomu Toriyama who delivered some bad news, “we were planning to make some DLC, but that plan wound up not happening.” Possibly knowing how this would disappoint some fans Toriyama added, “I’m sorry.”

Japanese developers have taken some heat in the past few years for not quite delivering on DLC. This seems to be another example of an eastern game producer dropping the ball on long-term support for their game.

We have attempted to contact Square Enix to get a reason why the DLC was canned, we will update with any further developments.
