Publisher Namco today announced that its forthcoming racer, Street Racing Syndicate (SRS), has gone gold for all systems, which means that development has wrapped and the game is now in production. The title is set to debut with a MSRP of $49.99 during the week of August 31 for GameCube, PlayStation 2 and Xbox, according to the company.
“Gamers are about to get an insider’s look at the underground world of street racing,” said Rod Nakamoto, executive vice president of research and development for Namco. “We’ve pulled out all the stops to make sure SRS is the most authentic street racing game ever.”
The title features some 50 officially licensed cars, all of which take damage in real time, as well as hundreds of after-market parts, and more. Races are inspired by 18 of the import scene’s sexiest female models, according to the publisher. Meanwhile, there are a wide number of courses to zoom through, all set to the backdrops of popular race cities like Los Angeles, Miami and Philadelphia. In contrast to NFS, there are both day and night courses available. The game features a detailed, non-linear style open world where race circuits are opened up at the player’s discretion.
The game will feature on-line multiplayer for the Xbox and PS2. Expect Xbox Advanced to have a full review in the near future.
