Super Mario RPG Comes to Virtual Console

Good news, everyone! Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is finally coming to the Virtual Console! Which means that Square Enix is apparently not as afraid of money as many had once thought.

The bad news is, it’s for Japan in June. But on the upside, that increases the likelyhood of us getting it here at some point. On the downside, I’m not familiar with Japan’s VC pricing scheme, but it says the cost will be 900 Wii Points, 100 more than the typical Super NES title cost. Then again, I know there are those who would still gladly pay it.

On the positive side, given how rare a Square Enix release on Virtual Console is, this is pretty good. On the negative side, deep down I had hoped that maybe they were holding back as they have been with Final Fantasy titles so that they might remake it in 3D on the Nintendo DS.

Guess that dream has just been shattered like the Star Road. Oh well, the original is better than nothing!
