While PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners are happily celebrating the announcement of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for their platform of choice, Wii owners might feel they’ve been left out in the cold. There seem to be no plans to release the chaotic brawl on their platform, leaving them to wonder about the game which Capcom did make for their console, and exclusively (aside from the arcade version) at that: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.
While getting MVC3 underway seems to be a matter of showing Marvel how well 2 does and getting them to loosen the restrictions on their agreement, getting Tatsunoko vs. Capcom here would seem to be nowhere near as simple.
“It’s a lot of ‘dance with the lawyers’ on that one,” says Capcom’s Community Manager Seth Killian, when asked by Joystiq. “The rights holders for Tatsunoko in Japan are one company, but in the U.S. it’s … 13 companies — and some are very attentive and some are not.”
Some want the full Tatsunoko experience, while others would be satisfied were they to be replaced with other Capcom mainstays. And then there are those of us who curse the fact that Capcom would make such a game (with the likes of MegaMan Volnutt and Viewtiful Joe, no less) exclusively for the Wii, but can release nowhere else in the world.
