Even though last week's Weekly Drop was pretty bare, at least it made up for it by releasing one of the best modern yet nostalgia-filled platformers, Shovel Knight. It looks like the shovel brandishing warrior isn't quite done with his quest for world domination yet, as this week marks his release on the Xbox One, but he's far from the only game to look forward.
This week we have a slew of titles, ranging from point-and-click adventures, zombie survival, rocket building sims and even a JRPG where the main cast is made up of magical pop idols whose voices can save the world. Yep, that's a real game, and it's actually quite good too.
So without further ado, let's get this Weekly Drop started.
While I personally could never get into the mechanics of this game (I guess I'm just not smart enough), Kerbal Space Program has found a large following and gained immense popularity over the year. It's been in beta for a few years now but Monday marks the game's official release.
If you like games that allow you to build all manners of space ships that rely on real life physics in order to function properly, then definitely give Kerbal a shot.
At this point, this game needs no introduction. If you haven't played it yet, and you own an Xbox One, BUY IT.
You could say that Kickstarter owes a lot to Broken Age, even though initially it was the other way around. Broken Age was one of the highest grossing Kickstarters, which not only solidified that there are gamers still interested in point-and-click adventures, but also solidified Kickstarter as the main source of crowdfunding.
Broken Age Complete will finally tell the entire adventure of Vella and Shay. Two completely separate individuals that are on a parallel adventure.
If you're the type that likes to tinker around with various magical spells, and thusly create completely new spells, then Magicka Wizard Wars is right up your alley. This time, the single player elements are gone, and instead Wizard Wars, as its name implies, focuses on pure PvP combat.
This one is the odd man out, but I promise you, despite its premise, it's actually pretty great. The world is on the brink of apocalypse, and the only thing keeping it alive are the Verse Maidens. These magical beings use their magical voices and musical instruments to battle the evil "Beep."
Alright, relax. The premise is ridiculous, but it's all wrapped in a pretty sweet package with a fun combat system, and some really quirky characters. It's a Compile Heart game, so if you're familiar with their past titles, this one plays very similarly.
State of Decay was one of the cooler zombie survival games where you had to survive by having people join your band of survivors, craft defenses and scout the area for safe zones.
