It's a three day weekend, and that means we'll have more time to play the absolutely fantastic Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. But once Memorial Day is done, we got a slew of new games to dive into. And once again, the list is pretty diverse.
Whether you want to save the streets of Akihabara from vampires, decide the fate of House Forrester in Game of Thrones, mix up spells in Magicka 2 or paint the town red in Splatoon, you'll have quite the variety.
So let's dive in.
If you enjoy the silly premise of ridding the streets of Akihabara from modern day vampires by ripping off their clothes so the sun can burn them to death, then Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed is just the game you're looking for.
You'll be able to explore a fairly faithfully recreated version of Akihabara, as well as all of its shops and maid cafes. The game is brimming with otaku humor and silly pop culture references as well. While the combat can definitely feel clunky at first, it does open up over time as you find new and better weapons.
It's time to duke it out, Guilty Gear style on Steam with this latest release. Players can fight in ranked or player matches online with the full 25 character roster of crazy, over-the-top fighters. There are also several modes to choose from. And if you buy the game on Steam, it comes with the game's soundtrack.
Telltale's latest adventure title gets its fourth episode, and once again expands the story of House Forrester. Gared goes beyond the Wall, Mira is still scheming at King's Landing, Asher sneaks around the city of Meereen and Ryon is still imprisoned.
Speaking of Game of Thrones, not an episode goes by where I don't find myself singing the catchy tune from the Magicka 2 trailer. "Vampire, not a vampire, not a vampire, not a vampire." The zany game of combining various magical elements to create new spells is back with more spells, more co-op and more friendly-fire kills.
The definitive Ultra version of Street Fighter 4 is coming to the PS4. For only $24.99, you get the the base game along with all the tweaks and updates, as well as all of the released DLC thus far, including the Vacation and Wild costume packs. Of course, this version will also be running at full 1080p and 60 frames per second. For purists, the game will also support PS4 fight sticks, as well as select PS3 fight sticks, through included Lab Zero drivers.
The survival game which tasks you with trying to stay alive in a harsh environment filled with monsters and other horrors is finally coming to the Wii U, and is including the Reign of Giants expansion, which adds new characters, items and environments.
We've already been Splatooning it up at GameZone and very much enjoy the kid-friendly yet tactically deep third-person shooter from Nintendo. Boasting a slew of multiplayer modes as well as a fully features single-player mode, there are a ton of reasons to jump into Splatoon. And if you want to learn more about it, check out 5 things you need to know about Nintendo’s new Wii U game, Splatoon.
