The Wii Remote Quits DJ’ing and Moves onto Navigating 3D Environments.

Scientists at the University of Western Australia have modified a Wii remote OS X application to allow the use of the Nintendo accessory with their 3D projector.

3D environments that are projected onto a dome that is three meters in diameter and can now be manipulated by the Wii remote. Space simulations, supercomputer nodes and real world buildings can all be toured with the Wii’s controller. While the scientists at the University say it is not the best device for the simulations, it is a lot cheaper than what they have been previously using.

This could allow for their program to be used by a larger audience who would otherwise not be able to afford it.
