The Xbox One vs PS4 console wars are over; Wii U wins

Destiny isn’t available on the Wii U, but you know what will be soon? Super Smash Bros., the latest installment of Nintendo’s iconic fighting series which is arguably the best house-party title there is.

While “next gen” games like Destiny — which isn’t available on Wii U — lead many to only include the Xbox One and PS4 in debates regarding “best console,” the steady stream of Nintendo exclusives is leading to the rise of the dark horse that is the Wii U. For proof of this, one needs to look only as far as the music industry’s Marshall Mathers, better known in the music industry as Eminem.

According to My Nintendo News, which sourced a number of tweets (yay journalism!), talk show hosts on Shade 45 — a Sirius XM radio station produced by Eminem — discussed how the iconic rapper/music producer had gotten so bored of Destiny that he actually went out and purchased a Wii U in anticipation of Super Smash Bros. Honestly, can you blame him? As I pointed out yesterday, Destiny’s lack of end-game and general purpose have led to the same problems plaguing many MMOs (I know, Destiny isn’t an MMO, but it shares gameplay elements).

If the next-gen’s biggest game to-date is boring one of the most prolific rappers in the music industry, then surely it spells doom for Xbox One and PS4. The music industry has spoken, folks, Wii U wins. And they rule all, right?

Now it’s worth pointing out that we don’t know what system Eminem was playing Destiny on, but let’s be honest, with his type of money it was probably a PS4 or Xbox One. Of course, he probably owns all three consoles, so the real winners are Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo. The only real loser here is Destiny — and, well, those who actually refer to the sales of gaming systems as “console wars.”

Interestingly, Mike Tyson — former boxer turned actor/showman — recently admitted to playing tons of Destiny as well as other games, such as Call of Duty. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose.
