Top Five Mortal Kombat Crossover Characters We Want to See

It’s official. The first two characters available for download in Mortal Kombat 9 are Kenshi and Skarlet. While many Mortal Kombat owners are excited, it’s understandable to be a little ticked off, too. You can be happy that an already impressive line-up of fighters is undergoing a small expansion, but you can also be annoyed that Playstation 3 owners keep getting to play as Kratos while 360 owners don’t get a shot at Master Chief. All gamers, regardless of platform, should be treated equally. If Kratos is available to Playstation 3 owners, then a non-Mortal Kombat character should be made available to 360 owners.

With that in mind, GameZone brings you the top five characters from outside the Mortal Kombat Universe that we’d like to see come to the game. Accompanying each character is an explanation behind the pick and what their fatality might look like. Enjoy!

5. Mike Tyson – Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!!

Nowadays, Mike Tyson is everywhere. He was in The Hangover. Most recently, he was on Italy’s Dancing with the Stars. He also has an impressive resume of video game credentials, from Punch-out!! to EA’s Fight Night Champion. This boxing legend packs a punch–in the video game world and in real life. Adding him to the Mortal Kombat line-up would make sense. A retired boxer who is fighting to save Earthrealm fits in just as well as washed-up actor Johnny Cage. His fatality would be to clinch with the beaten opponent, bite his ear, and not stop until he reaches brain.

4. Cloud – Final Fantasy VII

This pick is a must. Cloud is hands-down the most popular character of the Final Fantasy series. Fans still hope for a Final Fantasy VII remake. What’s not to love about Cloud? He has huge blonde hair and wields the giant Buster Sword. Let’s see how Sub-Zero’s little ice sword stacks up against Cloud’s blade. His fatality would be his Omnislash move, which fits in with Mortal Kombat’s love of gore and slicing enemies into pieces.

3. Kerrigan, Queen of Blades – StarCraft and StarCraft II

Kerrigan was an easy choice. StarCraft is the most beloved RTS, and Kerrigan is an integral character. Of course, she would have to be in her Queen of Blades form, making her look like a creature that belongs in Outworld. Her fatality would have her calling in a swarm of zerglings that zerg rush and swarm the enemy. Naturally, blood would be spraying everywhere.

2. Master Chief – Halo Series

Master Chief is to 360 owners what Kratos is to Playstation 3 owners. He is the face of Microsoft gaming. When people think shooters, they think Master Chief. He could have similar moves as Stryker, who wields an array of weaponry and grenades. Shut your eyes and picture his fatality. Imagine an enemy being covered in plasma grenades. Imagine that enemy exploding in blue, fiery goodness. Now open your eyes. You want it to happen. I want it to happen. Let’s hope it does.

1. The “l” piece – Tetris

Everyone who ever owned a Gameboy owned Tetris. It’s a game that is available in some form for almost every cell phone, and it’s one of the most addicting games of all time. Many gamers have fallen victim to the Tetris dream-games–where you go to sleep but never enter a deep sleep because the entire night your brain is playing a never-ending game of Tetris. Blocks keep falling and your brain creates an ongoing puzzle.

The “l” piece is the most powerful Tetris piece in the game. Every player stacks their pieces in preparation for that vertical line to fall. When it finally does, it’s the most beautiful thing in the world. This fatality would have the opponent split in half. Then, the “l” piece would move to the center of the two halves of the enemy’s body, causing it to disappear.

So that’s the top five Mortal Kombat crossover characters we want to see. Tell us who (or what) you would like to play as in Mortal Kombat.
