Forums around the internet have been simmering with a new video of Mario Kart DS. Although Nintendo has not made an official release of the video, AMN has tracked down a copy and reviewed it thoroughly. It’s easy to see that this is authentic footage from today’s Nintendo of Europe press conference in Paris.
The video features footage from a new build far removed from the version shown last May at E3. The game now has a very slick, smooth look, and appears to feature new tracks. An upgraded map screen was also featured, showing the course, lap time, and position of all eight racers and their various weaponery spinning across the track. Also, making a big comeback is “cart-hopping.”
Four people are shown playing wirelessly on the stage. One of these was Tim Street, of Europe’s Official Nintendo Magazine fame. More notably, Nintendo’s corporate president Satoru Iwata was shown on-stage playing along.
The footage can be found here.
Thanks to Jeux-France for recording the video.
