A small handful of new information has surfaced from Ubisoft, courtesy of the company’s latest financial report. Among other items, such as sales, lost earnings, and the like, they note that “The postponed release dates for Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction and R.U.S.E, which were previously scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2009-10, and will now be released in 2010-11. Splinter Cell Conviction is now expected to hit the stores in April 2010.”
For the 2010-11 fiscal year, the company has a greater number of franchise releases planned than they did in 09-10. Among those are: “Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction, a new game in the Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon series, Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands, Driver, Raving Rabbids 4 and a new episode of Assassin’s Creed, which will be the first in the series to have an online multiplayer mode.”
Wow. In addition to that, they note that the bulk of their focus will be on the PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 portion of the market, as they are “the consoles which are expected to experience sustained sales growth in games for gamers in calendar 2010.” Furthermore, the above listed titles are only some of their plans for the coming year, as “[o]ther new franchises and innovations will also be announced throughout” 2010.
Of added interest and of particular note, Gamasutra (via Joystiq) reveals that the multiplayer Assassin’s Creed episode “refers specifically to an entirely new game and not the planned DLC content associated with AC2.” So that’s something extra to look forward to.
