Weekly Wrap-Up 5/20/11

Happy Friday, GameZone readers! We really hope none of you are buying into that whole Judgement Day nonsense that’s literally causing some individuals to say their farewells to all of their loved ones. Instead, we hope you’re looking forward to the weekend, so you can get some good gaming done. That said, let’s move on to GameZone’s Weekly Wrap-Up!

Yoostar 2 Review

Though it certainly presents a strong premise for the party game crowd, Yoostar 2 ultimately leaves a lot to be desired. The actual movie sections are far too brief, and without much long-lasting appeal, this title definitely seems like the groundwork for something that can be special somewhere down the line. Check out GameZone’s full review for a closer look at Yoostar 2, and decide for yourself if this title is worth bringing out at parties.

MX vs. ATV: Alive Review

THQ has begun putting a new hybrid pricing model into practice, and they’ve started to do so with MX vs. ATV: Alive. The game features plenty of tracks, single-player, and multiplayer, but a lot of its content will be released as DLC at a later date. Despite the fact that this title is missing some of its content, MX vs. ATV: Alive is still a fun racing game that’s fast-paced, intuitive, and rewarding. For more on the game, check out our review.

Dash Race Review

Dash Race brings racing to the iPhone, but it does so in a unique manner. By presenting a spin on the standard racing genre, this mobile game certainly deserves some credit for originality. But is this game for everyone? Or should only those gamers with distinct tastes download Dash Race for their iPhone? Check out the full review to find out.

LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean Review

Disney and LEGO team up with Traveller’s Tales to bring you the latest game in the charming LEGO franchise. How does LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean fare? And does it carry enough of the charm from the films to provide an experience that’s rewarding to both fans of the LEGO games and the Pirates franchise? For a detailed look at LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean, check out GameZone’s full review.

Mount & Blade: With Fire and Sword Review

Based on the work of Polish author Henry Seinkiewicz, Mount & Blade: With Fire and Sword provides gamers with an enthralling historically themed RPG. It may be a bit complex for gamers who prefer the more traditional RPGs such as Final Fantasy and Persona, but the gameplay in Mount & Blade is solid and enjoyable. Check out GameZone’s comprehensive review for more on this compelling RPG.

Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury

Though the Bangai-O franchise is fairly obscure, the latest entry in the franchise goes full force and offers a vastly rewarding shooter experience. Bangai-O: Missile Fury is a colorful, complex, and awesome shooter that gamers can easily get lost in. To learn why you should be playing this insanely rewarding game, check out our Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury review.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides Movie Review

Unlike its LEGO video game counterpart, the latest Pirates film isn’t all that great. Though stubborn loyalists may disagree, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides isn’t the best movie in the series, and it doesn’t offer anything that we haven’t already seen before. If you’re wondering whether you should shell out the cash to watch On Stranger Tides now or wait to rent it from Netflix, check out GameZone’s in-depth review of the film.

Resident Evil Needs to Be Scary Again

Remember when Resident Evil used to be scary? Yeah, so do we, and quite frankly, we really miss it. Over the past several years, Capcom has moved away from the survival horror gameplay that put the series on the map and steered toward third-person shooter territory. Check out Resident Evil Needs to Be Scary Again and see just why the folks over at Capcom need to take the series back to its roots.

Still, we can’t help but think this game looks awesome!
