What would Disney Infinity Star Wars look like?

Disney Infinity released in August 2013. Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes 2.0 Edition released in September 2014. At this rate, we are due for the Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition sometimes in August/September 2015. But my guess is that the 3.0 Edition will come closer to December, and for one reason: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens releases on December 18, 2015.

While there’s many directions for Disney to go with the next iteration of Disney Infinity, the popular Star Wars IP is the logical route. It’s begging to be made. They already did some of their most popular Pixar franchises, and just made some awesome figures and Play Sets for Marvel’s Avengers, Ultimate Spider-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy. Star Wars is the next logical choice.

So what would Star Wars be like in a Disney Infinity release? Lets put on our thinking caps. Seeing as how both Editions of Disney Infinity released with three Play Sets, we can assume that the Star Wars 3.0 Edition will also release with three. Star Wars Rebels already received an order for a second season, so Rebels will be a Play Set. The Starter Packs in the past have come with at least one Play Set and three figures/characters. So assuming that it’s Rebels, the three characters would probably be the main character Ezra Bridger, Jedi Kanan Jarrus, and Sabine Wren because her graffiti-covered Mandalorian armor looks awesome. My guess is that a few other heroes and villains will be available for purchase, like Zeb, Chopper, Agent Kallus and The Inquisitor.

The second Play Set would have to be one of the movies in the original Star Wars trilogy — my guess being Episode IV: A New Hope. The figures could be Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia, with other purchasable characters being Chewbacca, R2-D2 (C-3PO would be a power disc for a team-up) and Darth Vader. If they mashed up the entire trilogy instead of doing just A New Hope, Emperor Palpatine, Yoda and Boba Fett would also be awesome choices.

The third Play Set would have to be The Force Awakens. I’d tell you what it would be about and which characters would come with it, but we barely know anything about it! Just know it would probably need a bit of lens flare.

A Star Wars Disney Infinity Edition would have to change a few things up too. Space battles are a big part of Star Wars, so space and vehicles will have to be a bigger part of Disney Infinity as well. Imagine a Death Star trench run, where in Toy Box mode you can place obstacles and turrets. Or flying a snowspeeder against your friend who’s driving an AT-AT. I’m excited just thinking about it. Also, the skill tree would have to change things up a bit — it would have to be Force-oriented for characters that use the Force, while Han Solo and others would get Skills that are more akin to their style and strengths. Force Pushes, Force Jumps, and Han Solo’s special attack can be call “Han Shot First.” Meanwhile, characters like Boba Fett and R2-D2 would still keep some of the flying mechanics introduced with characters like Iron Man and Thor.

Not to mention all of the Toy Box items that could be added. They already have tree houses in the game, so making my own Ewok village would be easy. And everyone would jump at making different Pod Racer tracks. Who’s faster: Luke Skywalker in a pod racer, Dash, or Lightning McQueen? Well, you could find out. Oh, and Lightsabers.

I honestly believe this is what we could expect from a Disney Infinity: Star Wars 3.0 Edition, and my bet is on this being the direction they go. What would you want from a Disney Infinity Star Wars version?
