Wii U and 3DS game releases for February 2015

It's New Nintendo 3DS XL launch month!

After a relatively slow December, Nintendo is picking things up in February thanks in large part to the release of the New Nintendo 3DS XL. While things are still a bit slow in terms of Wii U releases, the Nintendo 3DS is getting two blockbuster game releases.

Here’s what Nintendo is bringing to the Wii U and 3DS in February 2015.

Breath of Fire – Wii U – February 12, 2015

Originally released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993 (arrived in North America in ‘94), Capcom’s iconic role-playing game Breath of Fire is hitting the Wii U eShop as a downloadable title this month. Set in a fantasy world, Breath of Fire follows the journey of a boy named Ryu, one of the last surviving members of an ancient race with the ability to transfer into powerful dragons, as he searches the world for his sister. On his quest, Ryu encounters the Dark Dragon Clan, a militaristic empire who seeks to take over the world.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask – Nintendo 3DS – February 13, 2015

Majora's Mask 3ds

I’m pretty sure every Nintendo fan knows The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. But just in case you need a refresher, the game revolves around Link's adventure in the land of Termina, which faces destruction from a giant moon crashing down on it. He'll have to travel through time in order to constantly change the future and save the land. Not only is it coming to the Nintendo 3DS, but it’s releasing alongside the New Nintendo 3DS XL. There’s even a special The Legend of Zelda 3D Limited Edition bundle, but it’s pretty much sold out everywhere at this point.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate – Nintendo 3DS – February 13, 2015

MH4U

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate sees you take on the role of a hunter traveling with a caravan of merchants and craftsmen across the world. On your journey, you'll encounter ferocious enemies that'll require strategy and an arsenal of weaponry that features 14 different weapon classes (including two brand new classes). To help you on your journey, MH4U allows you to connect with up to three other players locally and online to team up on quests, a first for Monster Hunter on 3DS. Like The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate’s release will coincide with the launch of the New Nintendo 3DS XL. And there’s also a bundle.

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse – Wii U – February 20, 2015

Kirby

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse is a follow-up to 2005’s Kirby: Canvas Curse, which was released for the Nintendo DS. Gameplay for Kirby and the Rainbow Curse is in the same vein as Canvas Curse, in that players use the Wii U Gamepad to help Kirby, who is stuck in ball form, move across the level by drawing rainbow colored lines on the touchscreen to guide him. The mains tory offers 28 levels with a challenge mode that boasts over 40. Kirby and the Rainbow Curse also supports three amiibo figures: Kirby, Meta Knight,a nd King Dedede.

Pokémon Shuffle – Nintendo 3DS – February 2015

Pokemon Shuffle is actually coming to the 3DS as a free-to-play downloadable game that’ll be available sometime in February from the 3DS eShop. It’s a match-type game in which you must match three of the same Pokemon to deal damage. Of course, as a free-to-play game there are limitations and restrictions that encourage you to spend money through in-app purchases. For example, there’s a heart system that functions in the same way as energy. When you battle, you lose a heart, and when you run out of hearts you must wait for them to replenish.
