Noah encounters himself in the past and begins to understand why he had his memory of June 13th erased in order to preserve the future. Meanwhile, Hiro and Angela take Claire's twins into the past to begin raising them towards their destiny.
SPOILERS AHEAD!
The second part of June 13th picks up after Hiro and Angela make their way with Claire's wonder twins back to 1999. Upon their arrival, Angela points out Hiro has the right time, but the wrong place, still in Odessa. When she asks him to take them to her home in Switzerland, he finds he can't. Angela, looking at the infant boy in Hiro's arms makes the startling realization that he has inherited the family power, being after all, a Petrelli. Nathan II can take the powers of others, just like his uncle and his great grandfather, which would explain why Hiro can no longer use his abilities, as well as why Claire's regenerative powers didn't save her from dying in childbirth. Knowing there would be no hope for the future unless both children are viable, she insists the babies be separated and charges Hiro with raising little Nathan, while she cares far Malina.
Meanwhile, back in Odessa on June 13th, Noah is stopped from killing Erica Kravid by his past self. Once together, he explains to himself what the future holds and what Erica is planning. Now that he knows why Claire is dead as well as the importance of the twins, Noah tells himself to allow Casper to wipe his memory to protect the babies and keep the timeline intact. After future Noah leaves with Molly, June 13th Noah wants to perform the memory deletion at the site of the explosion to give himself the impression of losing it as a result of the blast. Before he even makes it out of the room, he's apprehended by Harris. Holding him captive, Harris brings in a telepath to search his mind, which reigns in the return of yet another original player, Matt Parkman.
With Molly tracking down Hiro's powers, she and Noah manage to find the current version of Hiro, now fifteen years from his arrival in the past with the twins. A much older Hiro has long since accepted his role as the father of the wayward child, now a teenager eager to fulfill his destiny. Noah, more than ecstatic to meet the grandchild he held as an infant mere hours before, has his tearful reunion cut short by the arrival of the Harris clones. Hiro, throwing himself on the line to protect his family, stays behind to fight them off allowing Noah to help Nathan and his mother escape. With everyone safely away, we see the beginning of "Tommy's" story when Casper erases the necessary memories, leaving the mother and child to continue on a journey they can't remember starting in the first place.
June 13th- Part II wasn't as thrilling as the first part, but it did a phenomenal job of tying up all the loose ends in the current timeline, finally contextualizing the events so far. The whole purpose of this two-parter was to fill us in on the origins of these new characters considering all we know about them is how the Odessa bombing has affected them. Now that we're all caught up, it seems like the rest of the season should pay off nicely. Not to mention, the showrunners are falling back into the old tried and true formula from original Heroes: seemingly different people from all walks of life start realizing they're connected in more ways than a few. No one could've guessed the revelations that have come to pass and we can only assume now that all the major players are in position, the fate of this series may have some new life breathed into it. With any luck, the next few episodes could conclude the season with hope for the beloved franchise's permanent restoration.
