So many cables you will not know
what to do with them all.
When a new console is released, you
can rest assured that if you can not receive a first-party cable, controller, or
any other accessory, that a third-party manufacturer will have made a device
that is similar. Many companies, such as Mad Catz, have established their entire
business on creating third-party hardware devices for all the gaming consoles
out on the market, and the Xbox 360 is no exception. Read on to find out if each
of these connections are worth the price of admission.
To be complete honest, I find most
connection cables to be pretty much the same. I really can only tell the
difference with just a few different companies, because the picture clarity is
usually just a little bit crisper. Since I have an HDTV I have not had the need
to use anything but the component cables that came with the Xbox 360, but for
the sake of the review I decided to try them all out. Each of the different
cable sets, the Xbox 360 Component Cable, VGA Cable, and S-AV Cable worked
perfectly well on my TV. If your TV doesn’t have the component cable outlet,
then any of these fine Mad Catz products will work well for your connection
needs.
One of the things that I enjoyed
most about the Mad Catz package was the Xbox 360 Digital Audio Cable. I did not
have any spare optical cables in my place, and I really didn’t want to go out
and purchase one until the shopping holidays cleared out, to avoid spending two
hours in line for a very inexpensive item. I was excited to open this package
and plug it into my Xbox 360 and Home Theater system. You see my receiver is a
few years old so it doesn’t have any component outlets in it so I plugged the
component cables into the TV while I plugged the audio into my receiver. I was
not really happy with the results as it always has a drowned-out sound and I had
to turn it up really high just to hear anything. With this little marvelous
device I am now able to hear everything crisply and clearly and it makes a huge
difference while playing many of the games. I highly recommend picking up this
little Digital Audio cable as it is worth the price of admission.
The prices for the different
products are as follows:
Xbox 360 Component Cable –
$19.99
Xbox 360 VGA Cable –
$19.99
Xbox 360 S-AV Cable –
$19.99
Xbox 360 Digital Audio Cable
– $9.99
Pros:
I really liked the Digital Audio Cable as it has worked wonders for sound while
I am playing various games. All of the connection cables also work out really
nicely and easy to use for any connection that you might have on your TV.
Cons:
There really isn’t many cons to each of these connections. They all work really
well if you are in need of a particular connection device.
Verdict: 8.4
All of these devices work really well for your brand new shiny console. If you
are in need of any of them then look at your nearest store.
