Media: New Super Mario Bros. Wii – Four Minutes of Off-Screen Footage
kombo -
Following everything else we've posted of New Super Mario Bros. Wii over the past several days, I might ordinarily let a regular off-screen video like this slide. But upon closer observation, I feel that there is a little bit of information we can take away from it.
The first thing is perhaps an idea of how long some of these stages can run, depending on how you play them (and perhaps how many people you play with). The video runs for four minutes and some change before Mario manages to make his way to the flagpole with Yoshi in tow, Luigi trailing behind, and Toad left in a ditch somewhere. And I'm not even sure if we saw it from the beginning of the stage, either.
And speaking of Yoshi, it seems a lot of people are concerned with how he will play, most notably regarding different colored Yoshis having different abilities. From everything we've seen thus far, this does not seem to be the case; rather, the Yoshis seem to play more as they do in Yoshi's Island, save for the egg-throwing part (unfortunately, though it makes you wonder if they tried).
Finally, and sadly, it appears that Yoshi won't travel from level to level with you-- at least, if the stage completion at the end of the video is anything to go by, with Mario disembarking his dino-buddy to raise the Mushroom flag in the fortress.
